Human-centered Cyber Physical Systems Lab

The Human-centered Cyber Physical Systems (HCPS) Lab is a leading research group directed by Federica Pascucci, Associate Professor of the Department of Civil, Computer Science and Aeronautical Technologies Engineering at University of Roma Tre. HCPS is currently composed of 3 faculty members, 2 PhD Students, 1 technician and several MSc and BSc students (Link identifier #identifier__102957-1HCPS Lab Team).
The idea of the starting a new research group on human centered cyber physical systems stemmed back in 2011, when Prof. Pascucci was cooperating with several research institutions all over the world on this topic. Today, cyber physical human systems can be considered as an emerging trend in several technological applications such as healthcare, logistics, manufacturing, and critical infrastructure. The research group addresses the novel challenges for designing the interaction between control systems and humans. In this context, the reference methodologies concern the modelling of human beings, the design of model-based control and the implementation of control policies that are safe, robust, adaptable, and reliable.
HCPS members have participated in more than 10 research projects at international and national level, funded by European Frameworks Programmes (FP7, Horizon 2020, and Horizon Europe) as well as by National institutions. HCPS actively participates in international committees and working groups and in the organization of international conferences and workshops. Over the years, HCPS members have been also active in technology transfer.

The research topics at the HCPS research group encompass:

  • Autonomous navigation
  • Cybersecurity for CPS
  • Safe and Secure CPHS
  • Human centered robotics
  • Industry 4.0
  • Transport and logistics
  • Smart cities
